FromLabs Hiring: Software Development Manager

We are looking for a Software Development Manager to oversee our development teams and practices. An ideal candidate has a qualification in software engineering or computer science, as well as several years of experience in the field. We prefer candidates who have spent some of this time in a leadership position. In this role, you will oversee each aspect of the development process, and act as the liaison between your team and upper management. You will participate in management team meetings relating to product and project development. You should be familiar with modern software project management practices and tools. The company management team communicates in English.
 
Summary
• Contract Type: Permanent full-time, location: HCMC
• Supervise and delegate duties to the development teams
• Establish development practices, standards and policies for the team and ensure compliance
• Report project progress and propose project updates to upper management
• Create a budget and timeline for the development projects
• Develop a testing practise
• Participate actively in the HR development of the development team
 
About Us
We are FromLabs, and there is a good chance you have not heard of us yet. Our software products power engagement of people in events, organizations, and restaurants. Our clients are mainly in Indonesia, Singapore, Germany and USA with more countries to come online. Our development team is in HCMC with a couple of developers working remotely. The development team size is around 20 strong at the moment.
 
Job Description
The job will enable the successful candidate to:
• Lead and contribute toward the development of high-quality software design and architecture – ensure we architect and design our products using the most modern SaaS architectures, that can also interoperate with within the local environment of our clients
• Manage the Development team and work closely with the product management on market and clients on requirements
• Manage a diverse team of mobile, front end and back-end developers
• Develop a testing practice, CI/CD and Dev Ops practices and architecture, automate subscriptions deployment
• Drive continuous improvement throughout the whole software development lifecycle
• Be passionate about building and shipping great products that delight our customers and their members
• Manage all general HR matters in relation to the Development team with the support of the Head of Product & Technology as required
• Attend and contribute to management meetings
• Report on software development KPI’s in a timely manner providing commentary on performance
• Ensure the team has appropriately skilled people resource to meet current and future needs
• Responsible for managing and motivating the team, enabling them to reach their potential within the business

• System architecture: Web application & Software architecture, Microservice architecture, Scaleable/stateless design
• Software development:
o Java: RestfulAPI, SpringBoot
o Javascript: NextJS, NodeJS, ReactPrime, ReactNative, WebSocket
o Java & C++: Mobile development
• Quality control:
o Automation test: Selenium, BrowserStack, Jmeter
o Frontend/backend testing
o Security/accessibility testing
• DevOps: Source control, CI/CD
• Project management: Jira, MS Teams
